If your family needs something sweet, but you don’t want to pull out a carton of sugary, processed ice cream, here is a great option! I always keep frozen bananas in the freezer for smoothies or to make this ice cream.
To freeze the bananas, I peel them and place them on a parchment lined baking sheet. Then, I stick them in the freezer. Then, take the bananas, and place them in a gallon ziploc bag. Freezing them individually prevents them from sticking to each other in the freezer and having to chip them apart.
Banana Ice Cream
- 2 bananas
- 3 TBSP milk of choice
- 1 tsp vanilla
- Freeze bananas without the peel
- Blend bananas, milk, and vanilla in a blender until creamy
- Place ice cream in freezer for 15 minutes to firm up.
Kids love the option of choosing their own toppings as well. So, having some stevia sweetened chocolate chips, unsweetened shredded coconut, nuts, paleo granola, or dried fruit, will give them the feeling of going to the ice cream parlor without the high price tag or unhealthy ingredients.
Some great nutrients you will get from this recipe are potassium and a dose healthy fats. Potassium is great to help the adrenals unwind for sleep too. So, this is great for the evening.
